Activity/Maintenance Assistant-(Temporary)

Baptist Housing is looking for a student to join the Team at Grandview Towers in Vancouver.  The position available is a short term summer position and will provide some great experience serving with our Activities Team and assisting our Maintenance Team with some light maintenance tasks.

As part of the Activities Team you will assist in planning, implementing and evaluating recreational wellness programs for our Residents at Grandview Towers.  Our Activities Team is FUN, positive, outgoing and collaborative, modelling our values as they build relationships in our community.  You will also assist our Maintenance Team with a variety of tasks such as watering, weeding and sweeping, cleaning, demolition of suites for renovations, monitoring garbage and recycling, dump runs and working alongside our maintenance Team as they perform repairs.  You should enjoy serving seniors and connect with Baptist Housing values. 

Our preferred summer student will be a high school or other student but not limited to college, university, trade, etc.  Assets to thriving in this position include: experience with seniors, organizing senior’s group activities and or recreation/therapy education, landscaping or maintenance experience.  Good time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a Team.

This position is for 8 weeks, approximately 35 hours per week. This position does not include benefits.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English; verbally and written.

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Must enjoy working with seniors.
  • Ability to work all shifts as applicable to the position.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good organizational skills.
