About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced human resources (HR) leader to join our team in Victoria at the Heights at Mount View.  Reporting to the Vice President Human Resources, the Regional Human Resources Manager leads our team of HR Coordinators and Schedulers, providing excellent HR advice and counsel to our operational leaders across five seniors’ residences in the Capital Regional District.  As a member of Baptist Housing’s HR Leadership Team, you act in partnership with other Regional HR Managers to align and deliver excellent HR programs and services across the organization, contributing to Baptist Housing’s strategic plan and helping achieve our mission of helping seniors experience life well in supportive communities.

Accountable for all HR service delivery in the region, you are a service-focused collaborative leader who enjoys a challenge:  recruiting nurses when there is a national shortage of RNs and LPNs; building constructive working relationships with three unions; and cultivating a healthy and fun culture that contributes to team member wellness and engagement.  In addition, you oversee recruitment and onboarding processes, disability management, and health and safety initiatives.  You provide expert labour relations advice and guidance, including collective agreement interpretation, investigations, corrective action process, and managing the grievance process up to and including arbitrations.

As an Ambassador of Baptist Housing and our values, you develop and maintain supportive relationships; value learning; embrace innovative change; and promote health and wellness for our residents and your fellow team members.

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Victoria.  Total compensation includes competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, four weeks’ vacation, RRSP matching, and support for professional development.

About You

You demonstrate an upbeat attitude and bring a minimum of five years related experience in human resources with a labour relations focus - ideally in a unionized health care environment - supported by a relevant bachelor’s degree and a CPHR.

You are an experienced, collaborative team leader.  You have strong interpersonal skills, foster and maintain healthy productive relationships, and model our values in all interactions.  You navigate conflict well and bring seasoned critical thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills. You are highly service oriented, focused on outcomes, and able to work independently and as a collaborative team member.  You are detailed and organized, and able to manage your time, workload and conflicting priorities effectively and efficiently.

You would consent to a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for working with Vulnerable Adults and are able to provide a clear current tuberculosis test.

We are eager to build our team with people who share our mission and values. If you would like to apply, please provide a resume and cover letter to careers@baptisthousing.orgIn your cover letter, please describe how your leadership would contribute to our Baptist Housing team, including why you’d like to help seniors experience life well in supportive communities.   We welcome your questions about this opportunity at the same email address.  Thank you for your interest in working with Baptist Housing!
