About You

You communicate often and well, effectively convey information, listen attentively, and collaborate with others to achieve maintenance objectives. Job Requirements

Must Haves

  • A minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in building and systems maintenance or related professional area.

  • Formal education or equivalent training and experience in facility maintenance, preferred Red Seal Certification or equivalent ticket in Plumbing or HVAC

  • Familiarity with construction, mechanical services, modernization/retrofit projects, appliance repairs, and/or Service Maintenance Contracts from related industries

  • Awareness of environmentally sound practices;

  • Knowledge of computer systems and fundamental understanding of computer-controlled systems

  • Experience with building automation systems

  • Experience managing in a unionized environment

  • Experienced driver with a minimum of a Class 5 license and clear driving record

  • Available to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as required, including occasional Manager-On-Duty shifts.

  • Proof of Covid 19 vaccination

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Nice To Haves
  • Power Engineer or Building operator certificate is an asset

Job Duties

  • Oversee day-to-day leadership of the Maintenance department

  • Delegate daily, weekly and monthly tasks to maintenance team.

  • Supervise tasks assigned to maintenance team members.

  • Support team members during peak periods and troubleshoot maintenance concerns

  • Oversee the maintenance of all 5 properties on the campus by performing regular property inspections including common areas, building exterior and landscape

  • Maintain heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fan units, control panels, thermostats, cooling towers, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, etc.

  • Maintain outside grounds (i.e. Snow/ice removal and debris, sweep, clean, power wash and maintain sprinkling systems)

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report any unusual situations to Director Maintenance.

  • Participate in drywall repair and painting of interior and exterior surfaces as required

  • Develop building maintenance operating strategy aligned with business strategy

  • Ensure proper training and tools for team members, including providing hands-on training and support.

  • Address resident concerns/complaints and empower team members to do the same

  • Make recommendations for capital and operating expenditures

  • Collaborate with supporting departments for a seamless resident experience
