Valentine’s Day is considered a day for lovers to express and celebrate their love. But have you also considered it an opportunity to express how much you care for your elderly loved ones?

Here are a few ideas for making your loved one feel special on Valentine’s Day.

  • Assemble a mixed CD of vintage love songs from crooners you know they would enjoy. Were Dean Martin or Elvis Presley or big in their day? Let them enjoy the sweet songs and memories that will ensue, or have a listen with them and let them reminisce with you.
  • Create (or have your children create) a simple card in a pink-and-red theme which says “We love you!” Consider printing a couple of recent photos for their walls or fridge and place it in the mail so that it arrives close to February 14.
  • A gift of sweet heart-shaped or red-and-pink sprinkled homemade cookies would be a welcome addition to anyone’s day. Create a little care package of cookies and deliver it along with some tea bags to brew a pot of tea and visit.

Plan to be thoughtful in this way and you could end up making your loved one's February!
