About You

You have a love for seniors and enjoy building long term relationships with the residents in your care. You're known as kind and compassionate with an extreme amount of patience. You're an excellent communicator and can explain instructions in a way anyone can understand. People trust you and always comment that you listen to what they have to say. You're always on time for work and known for "always getting the job done". You take the safety of the residents in your care seriously and have a gentle touch when working physically with people. You're also flexible and adaptable enough to deal with the changing priorities and situations that require some quick thinking. You come with a high school education and completion of a recognized nursing assistant program or a Health Care Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution. You'll be registered with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry and have a Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.  

About The Role

  • Assisting residents with daily activities like socializing, exercising and recreational activities

  • Prioritizes safety and efficiency in all tasks

  • Establishes a culture of health and safety, leading by example and encouraging the team to do the same

  • Identify and rectify hazards and unsafe practices, reporting them to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee

  • Responsible for communicating resident progress, attendance and changes in physical and cognitive functioning 

  • Serves as an ambassador of Baptist Housing, embodying the organizations values in all interactions

Must Haves

  • Grade 12 education and completed a recognized Care Aide program

  • Current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry

  • Certification in medication administration

  • Current First Aid certification with CPR
