About The Role
*This role is for 30 hours per week.
The Chaplain is responsible for offering opportunities for Christian worship, spiritual guidance, and personal growth, walking alongside residents and team members as they navigate life’s challenges and joys. Collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary care team, you will nurture a supportive environment where faith and community flourish.
Responsibilities
Spiritual Care for Residents & Families:
Conduct initial and ongoing spiritual assessments to understand residents’ spiritual needs.
Lead Christian worship services, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, and memorial services.
Provide spiritual counsel, especially regarding grief, end-of-life issues, and ethical concerns.
Assist families with spiritual care and support during transitions and challenging times.
Support for Team Members:
Foster a supportive environment for team members’ personal faith and emotional well-being.
Offer spiritual counsel and assistance with ethical concerns related to resident care.
Promote understanding of spiritual care through team education initiatives.
Networking & Resources:
Build connections with local faith communities and other organizations to enhance spiritual care.
Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support spiritual programs and activities.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain records, report on spiritual care services, and participate in strategic planning.
Collaborate with the leadership team on spiritual care budgets and program development.
Requirements
Graduate degree in Theology or Ministry (e.g., M.A., M.Div., M.Cs.).
Completion of Clinical Pastoral Education or training in professional chaplaincy is preferred.
Endorsement from the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC and Yukon. This endorsement is provided to the successful candidate on hire.
Compassionate approach to spiritual care, with sensitivity to diverse religious backgrounds.
Experience in geriatrics, spiritual care, grief support, and activity planning.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with residents, families, and team members.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits
We offer an hourly salary wage of $36.76. Your compensation includes employer paid extended health and dental coverage, retirement savings plan contributions, and paid vacation.
