About the Role

*This is a temporary 12-month position

FTE: 0.3 (11.4 hours/week)

As the Delegation of Task Nurse, reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, you are responsible for leading education initiatives for all team members within Assisted Living and Independent Living. Practicing according to BCCNM Standards and the CNA Code of Ethics, you maintain professional relationships with residents, team members, program facilitators, and community agencies. You enhance team member performance and resident service through education, coaching, mentoring, and guidance, exemplifying servant leadership principles. Your role includes orienting, training, and developing team members; fostering positive relationships; assessing abilities; assigning tasks; providing feedback; and addressing medication errors. As a resource for the program facilitator, you incorporate evidence-based research into practice, consult multidisciplinary team members, identify potential problems, and maintain clear documentation. Committed to health and safety, you demonstrate safe practices, encourage improvements, and respond calmly to emergencies, upholding our mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing or eligible for membership with BCCNM

  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree preferred

  • Canadian Nurses Association Gerontology Certificate preferred

 

About You

As the Delegation of Task (DOT) Nurse, you achieve high levels of individual and team performance by being results-oriented and proficient in working with minimal supervision. You possess exceptional interpersonal and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Your strong problem-solving and time-management abilities allow you to prioritize and organize your workload efficiently. You are knowledgeable in best practices and skilled in tasks required for quality resident care, including the use of computers, email communication, and internet use. Understanding the normal aging process, altered cognitive function, and disease processes associated with aging, you employ various strategies to assist residents with varying diagnoses. You are adept at using tools for assessing functional and cognitive status and managing equipment related to resident care. Your expertise in pharmacological therapies and interventions, along with a deep understanding of the Wellness Model, guides your practice. Additionally, you have the skills to mentor and evaluate team members and are well-versed in the legal aspects of documentation and the broader healthcare system.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this role is $41-55 per hour. You’ll be joining a warm and supportive work environment where you can thrive both personally and professionally.
