Maintenance Lead

Baptist Housing is looking for a Maintenance Lead to join our team in Abbotsford. The Maintenance Lead is accountable for all aspects of maintenance of the buildings and systems at both of our Hallmark Residences.

Responsibilities include planning and coordinating maintenance projects and a preventative maintenance schedule for buildings and equipment. You perform and delegate maintenance tasks to ensure timely support to the Residences. You must hire and supervise a maintenance team as well as contracted services for extensive maintenance jobs and ensure compliance with all safety and building codes and regulations.  You maintain tools, supplies and a maintenance request system.  You manage a monthly budget and document and report maintenance activities and expenses.

The Maintenance Lead must have demonstrated expertise in maintaining large facilities, painting, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, equipment and building fabric maintenance practices and repairs.  You must be an effective leader and supervisor, problem solver, communicator and skilled in prioritization and time management.  As an ambassador of Baptist Housing, you love interacting with our Residents and reflect our values in your daily work.

The Maintenance Lead has post-secondary education in building and systems maintenance and a minimum of five years related experience.  Previous experience in project management, leadership, supervising teams, and hiring and monitoring contractors is also required.  Preference will be given to applicants with certification in a building trade, backflow prevention, or HVAC.


This position is permanent full time and requires some flexibility to include evening and weekend work to support our residents in a 24-7 environment.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English; verbally and written.

  • A heart for seniors
  • Post-Secondary education in building and systems maintenance and or equivalent experience 
  • Previous experience in project management
  • Ability to work all shifts as applicable to the position
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong relational skills
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
