View, you will conduct a program of therapeutic and recreational activities designed to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of our residents. 

 

About The Role 

As a Recreation Assistant, you play a key role in creating a vibrant and supportive environment for residents. Under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Manager, your day-to-day task involves planning and implementing recreational programs that promote health, wellness, and independence while ensuring that activities are safe and engaging. You also assist with resident care, help with mealtimes, and provide direction to volunteers. By fostering positive relationships with residents, families, and team members, you help ensure that each resident's unique needs are met while also modelling the values and servant leadership principles of Baptist Housing. 

 

Requirements   

  • Grade 12 completion 

  • Recreation Therapy Aide certificate or diploma (minimum 12-month program) 

  • Current Food Safe Certificate 

  • Unrestricted Class 4 License with a clear driver's abstract or a willingness to obtain a Class 4 License 

  • Current First Aid Certificate 

  • At least 1 year of experience in implementing recreation programs in residential care 

  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered, such as a Registered Care Aide certificate with an additional activity aide certificate.

You are comfortable using computers and related software, and you understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality. Above all, you are driven by a deep desire to serve others and contribute to a positive, supportive environment for residents.  

 

Compensation and Benefits    

As a member of the Hospital Employees Union, you will earn an hourly wage of $29.83 and be welcomed into an environment where support for you is prioritized.
