Alpha Course
For those who are retired, you know what it’s like to suddenly have more free time in your lives. Your mind is filled with thoughts of family, friends and the rich memories you’ve created thus far. You've also begun thinking more about the meaning of it all and the purpose for your life today. Where is all of this headed? Is there more to life than this? We are inviting you to bring these questions to a course called Alpha, taking place at Shannon Oaks Oak Bay in Victoria.
WHAT IS ALPHA? The Alpha Course is your opportunity to reopen the door on your spiritual questions, to make friends and to explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, low key, friendly and fun. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too much.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT? Over 10 weeks you can expect to learn about relevant topics in a relaxed environment. Each session begins with a meal, providing an opportunity to get to know others in a casual setting. This is followed by a short talk, which examines a different aspect of the Christian faith, then open discussion. Some of the questions we’ll explore are: How Does God Guide Us? Who is Jesus? Why and how do I pray? How can I develop a relationship with God? What about the Church? Is there more to life than this?
ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? Alpha is an established global ministry, engaging people wherever they are on their journey. You don’t have to participate in the whole course – pop in for the first night and see what you think. Everyone is welcome to join.
COME AND JOIN US! On Thursday, September 25th, we will be holding an information session at Shannon Oaks Oak Bay in the evening to share what Alpha is all about. We will begin with a wonderful dinner, explain the course, and then give you the opportunity to sign up. Don’t miss this opportunity. It may be just for you! If you are interested in attending our Alpha information session, drop by the Front Desk at Shannon Oaks Oak Bay or Marrion Village to sign-up by Sunday, September 21. If you have any questions, please feel free to email oakbay@shannonoaks.org.
