Baptist Housing Values: Respect

News

At Baptist Housing, we have 6 values which correspond to the acronym CHRIST. These 6 are Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Stewardship and Teamwork. We also have the added 7th value of Fun – an essential aspect of our ministry which reminds us to take our work seriously, but not ourselves. As Servant Leaders, we are focused on serving others in humility and grace while demonstrating the character behind each value. In this blog series, we’d like to reflect on each value and invite you to learn about who we are as an organization.

Marc Kinna, Baptist Housing's Executive Vice President Operations offered us his reflection on the value of Respect.

Value 3: Respect

We are getting closer by the day to our opening of The Heights at Mt. View in Victoria, and this week I participated in a tour of this new care community.  We were sharing with some health authority guests how clinical practice meets building design to achieve our mission of assisting seniors to experience life well.   As we toured, I realized how closely our building designs link to our value of Respect.

At Baptist Housing, respect means treating people with dignity at all times to elevate personhood and person-directed wellness.  As Dayle Krahn, who leads project development for us, was sharing how each detail of the construction is based on the needs of Residents and will assist with caring for those with dementia, based on evidence and research and our experience, I heard personhood and person-directed wellness.

So much care and attention, with input from many of our Team and stewarded by leaders who put Resident experience first, has gone into this design.  Dayle’s smile could not have been wider as he described the connection of our mission and values through design and construction and how it sets the stage for exceptional holistic care for individuals based on their personhood.

Thank you to every person who helps make experience life well come alive every day at Baptist Housing, and thank you to those who have made our design at the Heights at Mt. View such a shining example of respect!
