Resident of the Year Nominee
Olive Fera, a long-time Resident of Shannon Oaks – Vancouver was nominated for Resident of the Year to the BC Seniors Living Association (BCSLA). Although she did not win, BCSLA did up a plaque that Shannon Oaks was able to present to Olive.
Here is an excerpt from her nomination:
Olive is always contributing to the community at Shannon Oaks and is ready to lend a hand where it is needed. She is dedicated to running our “Mobile Library” each and every week to serve her fellow neighbors. The Vancouver Public Library provides an assortment of books each week, and you will see Olive unpacking, stacking, sorting, signing in and out, and of course providing solid literary advice to other residents!
Olive is also a faithful member of our Food Committee, and an advocate for others to get involved. Her feedback, input, and encouragement in this forum are invaluable to our service delivery. Olive is also a skilled gardener and has taken on a dedicated “oasis” on our grounds that she dutifully lends her green thumb to- lovingly nick named by all “Olive’s Garden”. It is in her plethora of contributions, whether they are large or small, that she consistently lends herself to improving the quality of life for those who live within our community.
What a gift to have such amazing seniors giving back within our communities.
