Residents from the Village at Mill Creek have been knitting up a storm and putting their efforts toward those in need. Village at Mill Creek knitting club members have spent the past two months knitting toques for those challenged by homelessness over the winter months.

Encouraged by spirit of the knitting group other Village at Mill Creek Residents and Team Members joined in to provide additional items to complement the touques. The resulting Christmas care packages included new socks, mittens, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, t-shirts, chocolates and sports sacs.  Today, 58 care packages, each complete with a toque, were delivered to Inn from the Cold.

“It is so inspiring to see our Residents to take on this project to help others in their community. At first they weren’t sure they would ever make their goal of 50 toques. When they did, they kept on knitting and even added 12 scarves. The desire to help others is ageless. I can’t wait to hear what their next project will be!” said Kate Dusik, Village at Mill Creek.

“Inn from the Cold is only able to operate because of the support of the community. The donation of care packages for the most vulnerable members of our community was truly overwhelming.  Due to the kindness and generosity of Baptist Housing we at Inn from the Cold will be able to make life a little easier for many of our guests” shared Jan Schulz, Executive Director.
