Team Member Receives Canada Cares Caregiver Award

Baptist Housing is pleased to announce that Debbie Schwab, registered nurse at Village at Smith Creek was given “The Leader” award at the Canada Cares Caregiver Regional Awards. Ms. Schwab received her award on October 29, 2013 in Gatineau-Ottawa, QB at the 2013 Home Care Summit hosted by the Canadian Home Care Association. Selected from over 200 applicants in the Western/Northern region, Ms. Schwab was recognized for her lead in dementia care, ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to quality resident care.  Debbie Schwab leads Village at Smith Creek’s Team by example providing daily supervision to the Dementia Care Team in a calm, gentle, and inspirational manner. Her work has not only earned her the respect of the entire care team, but also of that of community physicians, pharmacists and clinical leaders. “We are proud to have Debbie as a part of Baptist Housing’s Team. She is a true pioneer in dementia care,” said Elizabeth Harris, Regional Administrator.
